Parent Teacher Organization
At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents. - Jane D. Hull

Our purpose is to provide a forum that brings parents and teachers together to complement the formal school activities by providing additional opportunities to socialize, communicate, learn and develop. Our activities will enrich the school experience, allow parents to support their child’s education and will build relationships with groups outside the school community.
The PTO hosts a range of events throughout the year, including:
- Welcome teas & coffees for new families
- Monthly open meetings & coffee mornings
- Annual fundraising gala
- Friends of the Arts exhibition
- International Day - Taste of Nations
- Staff appreciation lunch
- Bus tours
- Farmers' market
The PTO has representatives across the three school divisions. The elementary team supports the Elementary School by helping to organize the home room parents, the annual costume party and holiday bazaar. The Middle School team organizes grade level coffee mornings and supports student socials. High School representatives help support service learning groups and facilitate grade level pot luck dinners.
There are PTO monthly coffee mornings at school. These dates can be found on the PTO Calendar as well as reminders being sent out via the Link Lite. At these gatherings we strive to have both internal and external guest speakers to discuss topics that enable you to enhance you and your child’s experience whilst at ISK and living in Nairobi.
The success of the PTO depends on volunteer parents and their active involvement. Parents can be as involved as they would like to be. A knowledgeable and supportive network can make all the difference to your experience of Nairobi and Kenya. Please contribute your time, knowledge and ideas to the PTO - and come to our monthly coffee mornings.
There is also a PTO Community Forum Facebook Page. This a great community resource with lots of useful information and details about school and PTO events. Please send a friend request and join in our online community.
In addition to these core activities of the PTO, parents also volunteer with Friends of the Arts (FOTA) and the PTO Shop.
