Scholarships
We are is pleased to offer a limited number of bursaries and scholarships as follows:
IB Outreach Scholarships
This is a competitive two-year IB Diploma scholarship for Kenyans, based on merit and proven financial need.
Up to two partial scholarships per year in each year of the IB program may be granted on merit and financial need, for a total of 4 scholarships at any one time (two in IB1 and two in IB2). These may be granted to Kenyan students* interested in undertaking the full IB Diploma who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, leadership potential, and commitment to the values expressed in the ISK Mission and Aims, but who would not be able to attend ISK without significant financial support. The amount of the award will be up to 100% of tuition for each of the two years of the award. Capital fees would be waived for these scholarship students and an additional allocation of up to 10% of tuition fees may be set aside to assist with incidental expenses, based on available funds. Normally one scholarship will allocated to a girl and one to a boy each year.
* “Kenyan” students will be long-term residents with a Kenyan passport and at least one parent with a Kenyan passport.

High School Scholarships
One student will earn a Partial or Full Scholarship to ISK’s High School starting in the pre-IB years of grades 9 and 10 and potentially covering all four years of high school including the 2-year IB Diploma program. Applicants must be ages 14-15 (in the middle of or about to start Form 1).
Eligibility Requirements for IB and HS scholarship:
Selection for the scholarships will be competitive.
Applications will only be reviewed if the following criteria are met:
- Kenyan citizenship (student and parents)
- Demonstrated financial need
- Written and oral fluency in English
- Outstanding academic record in an English language-based curriculum and documented leadership and commitment to service to the community
- Ability to live in Nairobi for the full duration of the scholarship

Exceptional-Need Bursaries
A limited number of one-year bursaries will be available to students in exceptional circumstances who demonstrate financial need, of any nationality and grade level. These bursaries may range from $500 to $2,500. A pre-condition for receipt of this bursary will be an on-going record of satisfactory academic performance and conduct, therefore this is not an automatically renewable bursary. Families who re-apply will be considered in the context of that year’s resources and applications as well as the student’s academic performance and conduct record.

$500 Merit Scholarship
Grades 6 – 12
For each grade level from 5 through 11, one exemplary student will be selected to receive this $500 scholarship towards the following year’s ISK tuition. If the recipient is not returning he/she will be acknowledged in a letter, but will not receive the tuition credit for the following year. Decisions are made by faculty committee at the end of May each year.
Applications will be screened by a scholarship committee and an award announced by April. Category II bursaries may only be considered throughout the year if money remains available in the scholarship fund.
Each year, the Scholarship and Bursary Budget will be allocated roughly as follows:
65% - IB Outreach Merit Scholarships
30% - Exceptional - Need Bursaries (any grade)
5% - Partial Merit Scholarships (6 – 12)
