Volunteer Opportunities
There are a wide variety of opportunities for our parents to volunteer. Once you are here as a parent, we encourage you to become involved in our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). This is an excellent way to meet other parents and learn about all the various ways you can give of your time. Sign up for PTO News Alerts for the most up-to-date information.
The PTO has positions on its Executive Board, as well as the possibility of serving as a Parent Representative for either Elementary, Middle or High School. Volunteering at the PTO Shop is always a fun way to meet other students, parents and teachers.
There are also a number of opportunities for helping out at school-wide events throughout the year: Welcome Back Community Picnic (September), PTO Bus Tours, International Festival and Food Fair (November) and the Red Rose Ball and Auction (February).
Other popular areas to volunteer:
Friends of the Arts (FOTA) is a parent-run volunteer group which fosters strong ties to Kenyan artists and arts groups. FOTA invites artists, musicians and performers for regular workshops and performances at the school culminating in the Annual Art Show and Sale featuring the work of 100 local artists, the proceeds from which directly benefit the artists. The FOTA exhibition, held in February at the ISK Arts Centre, is a focal point bringing together the entire ISK community and the wider Nairobi art world.
Parent Advisors for Service Learning Parents are always welcome to get involved in the Service Learning program, more details are available from the CAS Coordinator.
