Admissions Overview
When and How to Apply
We are delighted that you are considering ISK for your child’s education and we look forward to working with you in a close partnership. We recognize that choosing the right school for your child is a decision that goes beyond the world-class reputation or local appeal that ISK enjoys.
The goal of the admissions process is to ease your child’s entry into ISK at the appropriate stage between Pre-Kindergarten and Grade 12 and to welcome the whole family into the ISK community.
Students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible. We are at capacity in most age groups and have waitlists for some grades. Applicants who cannot be enrolled due to lack of space will be placed on a waiting list until a place becomes available. These waiting lists may be formed as early as March. Applicants may be accepted off the waiting list as early as May, as we learn which families will be returning for the next academic year.
Our school year runs from early August until early June; the first term ends mid-December and the second term commences in early January.
We accept applications throughout the school year, although we encourage families to apply as early as possible.

Admissions Criteria
We will accept students who can be successful in the daily academic program, provided there is space available in the grade. In addition to this, we offer approriate and student-centered instruction for students with identified mild learning disabilities or learning needs through our Student Support Services. We do not have a program for students who require support for moderate to severe learning disabilities.
An application review will only begin after a complete application is submitted in person, by post or via email. The student must also complete our school's assessment prior to a confirmed acceptance.
We use a North American grade and/or age placement scale for class admission. In cases where students come from a school using a different grade level system, students will be placed according to ISK's grade system. The same is true for age placement. For Pre-Kindergarten, the student needs to have turned four years old by September 15 to be accepted.
As the IB Diploma program is run over two years, we will rarely accept IB Diploma students into grade 12 unless they have come from another IB school and can continue with their particular subject choices.
Admission to ISK may be denied for any of the following reasons:
-
Class size has reached capacity
- Student has "moderate to severe" learning disabilities or needs
-
School history of discipline problems
-
Involvement with drugs
-
Other reasons which may be in the best interest of the school and the student as determined by the Principal or Director of ISK.
