ISK is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our students. ISK has qualified health professionals on site to handle the health issues affecting your child throughout the school year while working in partnership with you.

Other responsibilities of the health team include:

  1. Ensuring each student has an up to date health form on file at all times. These health forms should be updated by each family's doctor every two years to help guarantee the safety of our students' health.
  2. Conducting annual Scoliosis screening in October for Grades 6,7 8 and 9- Scoliosis is an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine greater than 10 degrees accompanied by vertebral rotation. This usually occurs during the adolescent growth spurt of ages 10-15 years. Spinal curvature from scoliosis may occur on the right or left side of the spine, or on both sides in different sections. If undetected and/or left untreated scoliosis may result in serious physical as well as psychological health problems.
  3. Conducting annual Vision and Hearing Testing in February for Grades 2,4,6,8 and new Grade 10 students- This testing is recommended to detect problems that may be impairing your child’s academic performance. Should any problem be detected you will be informed and advised to seek further medical assistance.
  4. Conducting annual vaccinations in March- These vaccines play an important role in ensuring that children, regardless of where they live, can have a healthy start and continuation of their lives.

The Health Office is open for students and staff Monday- Friday 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Safety

Securing our students and community is one of ISK’s top priorities. We spare no effort to keep your children safe and accounted for. We also constantly update our safety procedures to keep ISK as safe as possible.

ISK employs a vigilant full-time guard force that monitors the campus 24/7. From the outer gate to the tennis court, the security team monitors every area of the campus to ensure everyone is safe and secure at all times. We also have limited entry and exit points, and our security team monitors all incoming and outgoing foot and vehicle traffic.

When visitors come, they check in with the Security Office, and wear a visitor’s badge the whole time they are in the campus.

“Fire” and “Duck & Cover” drills are held quarterly to ensure all students and staff are prepared in case of an emergency.

As needed, we are also in direct communication with local law enforcement through the Diplomatic Police Unit, our sponsoring agencies, and other diplomatic mission security services. In all circumstances, the safety of our students is the highest priority.

In alignment with the goal of keeping our community safe, ID Badges are a requirement for all adults on the campus. Please visit the Security Office if you have questions regarding this security procedure.
