Frequently Asked Questions About Admissions

We offer classes from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12.

• We use a North American Grade and/or age placement scale for class admission. In cases where students come from a school with a different grade level system, they will be placed according to ISK's grade system. The same is true for age placement. 

• Children that are aged 3 by July 31st of the incoming school year, will be admitted into our 2 year Pre-Kindergarten Program. 

• Children that are aged 4 by September 15th of the incoming school year, will be admitted to our 1 year Pre-Kindergarten Program.

ISK has over  1,000 students representing more than 65 nationalities.

Pre-K- Grade 12-  8:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 

Pre-K- Grade 12-  8:20 a.m. to 1:20 p.m on Wednesdays

The accreditation process validates the integrity of the school’s educational program and student reports, enabling students to transition easily to schools and universities around the world. ISK is also authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer the Diploma Program.

Inter-Cultural Trips at ISK provide experiences that deliberately reinforce both interdisciplinary learning, character development, an opportunity for adventure, host country cultural exchange, service learning, and outdoor education skills. These experiences are a cornerstone of our educational program and provide our students with the opportunity to connect with their classmates and our beautiful host country during this "week without walls."

There is no school uniform for ISK students. However, we have a PE Uniform for Elementary School students.

Yes. ISK understands the necessity of parent involvement. We have parents who are grade representatives, and the Parent Teacher Organization is an excellent way to connect with other families. 

Kenya boasts a magnificent coastline, the second highest mountain in Africa, and a spectacular variety of wildlife in its enormous game parks. The cultural diversity is unparalleled.

It sits astride the equator, and the landscape ranges from tropical forests along the coast to glaciers in the mountains. The country contains a large number of lakes, both freshwater and saline and a great variety of plant-life from semi-desert to mangroves and swamp. The Great Rift Valley is less than one hour's drive northwest from the school.
