What Families Ask Us Most

We offer classes from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. Class sizes: To enable students to learn effectively, class size will normally be capped at 18 students for Pre-K to Grade 2; 20 for grades 3-5; and 22 for grades 6-12. Discretion for capping classes lower or higher than these norms will rest with the Head of School, based on considerations such as the nature of the subject, physical limitations of a classroom, sibling or sponsoring-embassy applications, current class composition, expertise/experience of the teacher, or anticipated contribution and needs of the additional students.

• We use a North American grade-and/or age-placement scale for class admission. Students from schools with a different grade-level system will be placed according to ISK's grade system. The same is true for age placement. 
• Children who are aged 3 by July 31st of the incoming school year will be admitted into our 2-year Pre-Kindergarten Program. 
• Children who are aged 4 by September 15th of the incoming school year will be admitted to our 1-year Pre-Kindergarten Program.

Pre-K- Grade 12-  8:20 a.m. to 1:25 p.m on Wednesdays.

The International School of Kenya is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools and the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges. The accreditation process validates the integrity of the school’s educational program and student reports, enabling students to transition easily to schools and universities worldwide. ISK is also authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer the Diploma Program.

Yes. Inter-Cultural Trips at ISK provide experiences that deliberately reinforce interdisciplinary learning, character development, an opportunity for adventure, host country cultural exchange, service learning, and outdoor education skills. These experiences are a cornerstone of our educational program and provide our students with the opportunity to connect with their classmates and our beautiful host country during this "week without walls." There is no school uniform for ISK students. However, we have a PE Uniform for Elementary School students.

ISK offers an optional Bus Service designed to provide convenient and safe transportation for students. Our buses serve locations throughout Nairobi and its surrounding areas, making school access easier for families across the greater Nairobi region.

The health, safety, and wellbeing of our students and staff is our top priority. We maintain a fully staffed Health Office, robust campus security systems, regular emergency preparedness drills, and clear safeguarding procedures. We work collaboratively with families, staff, and local partners to create a secure, caring environment where every student can thrive.

Parents can serve as grade representatives, join the PTO, volunteer for events, attend community gatherings, or support classroom activities.
