There are a multitude of opportunities for members of the ISK Community to participate and volunteer. Students can join service groups and make a positive impact on the local community. Parents, faculty and staff can likewise volunteer and help in a variety of ways, including service, education, social and fund raising activities. Once you are part of the ISK Community, we encourage you to become involved in any way you choose.
Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), for example, is an excellent way to meet other parents, faculty and staff and learn about the various ways you can give of your time, talent and treasure. You might serve on the PTO Executive Committee, or as a Parent Representative for the Elementary, Middle or High School. Volunteering at the PTO Shop is always a fun way to meet other students, parents, staff and faculty.
There are also a number of opportunities for helping out at school-wide events throughout the year, including the Welcome Back Community Picnic (September), PTO Bus Tours, the Staff Appreciation Lunch, Holiday Bazaar, or the Elementary School costume party.
If you are attracted to the Arts, you could volunteer to work with Friends of the Arts (FOTA) a parent-run volunteer group which fosters strong ties to Kenyan artists and arts groups. FOTA invites artists, musicians and performers for regular workshops and performances at the school, culminating in the Annual FOTA Art Show and Sale featuring the work of 100 local artists. The proceeds from the show directly benefit the artists and the local community.
