ISK Welcomes IB History Teachers to Campus

On April 17 and 18, ISK was at the center of IB History discussions and course planning, exploring ways to better incorporate African content into revised syllabi for the new IB History Course Guide, published in March.

ISK hosted 14 teachers, including guests from nearby St. Mary's School in Lavington and Aga Khan Academy Nairobi, as well as teachers from UWC East Africa, International School of Tanganyika, International Community School of Addis Ababa, American International School of Johannesburg, Harare International School, KAUST School in Jeddah, American International Community School in Riyadh, and Chadwick International School in Songdo, Korea.

ISK's hosting a workshop began as a brainstorm when our ISK teachers, Samuel Richards and Sekou Otondi, presented on decolonization in the social sciences during the February 2025 IB Africa Festival in Kigali. Their brainstorming, networking, and support from our TLC and IB coordinator, Jeff Idigo, made it possible to create an Africa-focused IB workshop.
