Welcome to Our School
Director's Welcome - Learning for Life
How do you capture the spirit of an extraordinary community like the International School of Kenya in text and photos? We have certainly done our best!
My name is Michael Callan and I am honored to be the Director of ISK. To capture such vibrancy may be impossible, but as you navigate through our website, I trust that what you see, read and hear will help you to capture the essence of our school. We are a community unwaveringly focused on helping young people thrive, and we have tried our best to showcase the multitude of ways in which this happens.
There is a calm, warm, and welcoming feeling that visitors experience when they first enter the ISK campus, and this immediate feeling of belonging is what serves as a foundation for the buzz of active learning that surrounds us each day. You will see students in classrooms identifying problems and collaboratively creating and then implementing solutions. You will hear the confidence and eloquence of our empowered learners as they respectfully challenge, support and care for one another in the classroom, on the stage or on the pitch. You will witness strong relationships between adults and students as teachers skillfully facilitate learning that inspires passion, creativity, and ambition.
It is indeed difficult to capture such a multidimensional place on a two-dimensional website, but I welcome you to click away and explore. Better yet, I invite you to contact us and visit so that both you and your child can experience the warm and caring sense of belonging that makes ISK such an extraordinary school.
We develop future leaders with compassion, curiosity and drive
The International School of Kenya (ISK) is a private, PreK-Grade 12, non-profit school created in 1976 through a joint partnership between the governments of the United States and Canada. Our idyllic campus is nestled on 40 acres of a former coffee plantation in Nairobi.
ISK provides an impeccable environment for students who seek a challenging international curriculum which leads to the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme. Graduates earn an ISK North American accredited diploma and approximately 70 percent of ISK graduates earn the IB Diploma, enabling them to study at some of the most respected and competitive colleges and universities in the world.
ISK’s internationally focused curriculum has helped Kenya to become a magnet for foreign business investment.
Expatriate families consider Kenya a quality career opportunity, in part due to the world-class education they find at ISK. Likewise, Kenyan families who want an international, culturally diverse education for their children see ISK as the school of choice.
