Our Strategic Plan

Constantly Evolving

Our journey from Coherence and Clarity to Commitment and Continuity is a 4-year strategic plan that is dynamic and responsive to our community’s needs. The ISK Learning Leadership Team, with approval from the ISK Board of Directors, utilizes data from parent, student, faculty, and staff surveys, as well as assessment data, observational data, and current educational research to consider each year’s End Results for the Strategic Focus Areas (SFAs).

ISK SFA Success: 4-Year Action Plan

Building Coherence, Clarity, Commitment, and Continuity at ISK: The Journey

  Phase I, Coherence (2022-23) Phase 2, Clarity     (2023-24) Phase 3, Commitment (2024-25) Phase 4, Continuity (draft) (2025-26)
SFA 1: Improving Teaching & Learning Review and refresh our Educational Aims and align them to our Mission and Vision.   Redesign the ISK learning design process that leads to the fulfillment of our Mission, Vision, and Educational Aims for all students. Articulate how current academic standards and learning behaviors  (i.e., NGSS, CCSS, ATLs, ISK values) connect with the ISK Educational Aims (definition of learning and active learner roles)   Document  success criteria related to the Educational Aims and reflect on these throughout the learning design process.   Review the systems, structures, and personnel that support the  ISK learning design process that lead to developing a collaborative learning community.  The ISK Educational Aims (Definition of Learning and Big 5) provide a framework for how we design learning at ISK
  • Educators have a shared understanding of the pedagogy identified in the Definition of Learning

  • ISK educators identify and use in practice 3-5 high leverage strategies that bring into action the ISK Educational Aims

  • The following Big 5 are integrated into units as concepts/skills that are reported on: Self-Manager, Collaborator, and Communicator

The Mission, Vision, and Educational Aims clearly drive all decisions and discussions- this is the ISK Way   The ISK learning design process is our student-centered approach to thinking about learning as a joyful and intentional journey of individual and intellectual growth.
SFA 2: Integrate student wellbeing throughout the school Student wellbeing is integrated through our school-wide learning design process.   Focus on supporting student wellbeing through our homerooms and advisory programs. Develop systems and structures aligned with the definition of wellbeing. The multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) which currently supports academics is expanded to include social emotional learning and behavior.   Our multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework supports regular collaborative conversations about student academics, social-emotional, and behavioral needs for all learners. ISK has community-supported, and Ed Aims-aligned, guidelines that clearly define our approach to wellbeing through behaviors, comprehensive health, and service learning.   Students feel known and valued at ISK
SFA 3:  Define and implement an approach to Inclusion All educators will plan for and support ISK’s definition of inclusion through our school-wide learning design process.

Build an Educational Aims toolbox of pedagogies and practices that support the learning of all students.

All educators will be using research-based pedagogies that support all learners throughout the learning process.   All educators deeply understand all learners and use just-in-time student data and evidence to make responsive educational decisions to support each unique learner.
