The Arts are Alive at ISK

From the moment students walk through our doors, creativity is everywhere — in the hallways, on the stage, and in the beat of a drum. Our arts program goes far beyond the curriculum, giving students the confidence to create, perform, and share their work with the world. ISK students represent our school on international stages through AMIS, the premier choral and instrumental honor festival for international schools, and ISTA, the global drama and theatre network — performing, collaborating, and growing alongside peers from around the world.

Elementary School Arts

The Elementary School arts program is where creativity comes alive. Through music, visual arts, and drama, our youngest Lions explore Kenyan and international cultural traditions while discovering their own creative voices. Whether they are painting, performing on stage, or learning rhythms rooted in East African culture, students are encouraged to express themselves across every art form. They develop confidence, collaboration, and creative thinking skills while exploring new ways to communicate ideas and tell stories.

From the ES Treblemakers bringing big voices to every performance to full-scale musical productions, our students learn that the stage is theirs from the very start. Through each artistic experience, they build a deeper appreciation for culture, creativity, and self-expression while having fun and growing as young artists.

Middle School Arts

The Middle School is where students discover who they are as creators. Through music, drama, visual arts, and signature experiences like overnight Music Camp, marching band, East African Drumming, and New Designers—where students create their own fashion through sewing, screen printing, and upcycling—our middle schoolers take creative risks and find new passions. From DJ Dance Parties to local inter-school music festivals and the AMIS and ISTA International Festivals, there is a stage and a spotlight for every student.

Arts in Middle School is about much more than performance—it's about building confidence, embracing creativity, and finding your voice. Students are encouraged to experiment, collaborate, and express themselves in meaningful ways while developing skills that extend beyond the classroom. Whether composing music, performing on stage, designing wearable art, or exploring new creative mediums, every learner is empowered to grow as an artist, celebrate their individuality, and contribute their unique perspective to the vibrant ISK community.

High School Arts

In High School, students think critically, create boldly, and share their work with the world. The Lion's Theatre Company brings unforgettable productions to life, while annual art shows give visual artists a platform to showcase their work to the wider ISK community. Student-led clubs like Jazz Combo, heARTS service, Photography Club, Mwangaza Stories, and Elements Writers Club give students the opportunity to explore creative passions and produce their own original work. Students also represent ISK at ISSEA festivals in Band, Choir, Drama, and Visual Arts, and selected musicians perform at the prestigious AMIS International Honor Festival alongside peers from around the world. Our students never have to wait for their moment in the spotlight.
