Home of the Mighty Lions

At ISK, our athletics program supports student well-being while extending and enriching the curriculum and advancing our Educational Aims. Participation is a privilege, and student-athletes are expected to model ISK’s Core Values. We promote lifelong healthy habits through movement, exercise, and sport, with the same commitment to excellence reflected in the classroom, on the field, in the pool, and on the court. Our program runs from Grade 1 to Grade 12. Elementary students explore a range of sports, including basketball, soccer, swimming, tennis, and field hockey. In Middle and High School, students compete on well-coached teams across a wide variety of sports. ISK Lions teams proudly represent the school in local and international competitions, supported by strong student participation. We also offer intramurals and athletics clubs to ensure an inclusive and well-rounded program.

Elementary School
Students in Elementary School at ISK participate in a wide range of developmentally appropriate sports and movement experiences designed to build skills, confidence, coordination, and a lifelong love of physical activity. ISK Elementary School Athletics for Grades 1–5 nurtures young talent in a fun, safe, and supportive environment where enjoyment and active participation are at the heart of every experience.
Through playful, inclusive, and varied activities, students develop fundamental skills while learning teamwork, fair play, and perseverance. Best practice in elementary athletics emphasizes that children in these early years learn most effectively through fun, game-based experiences that build confidence, motivation, and a positive relationship with physical activity—without early specialization.
Through sport, students build positive self-worth while growing as responsible, reflective members of the community. Our program fosters teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and a commitment to excellence, ensuring that every child experiences success, joy, and belonging through physical activity.

Middle School
ISK Middle School Athletics builds teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and a commitment to excellence through competitive sport.
While our teams are competitive, the focus is not on winning at all costs, but on developing confidence and providing a well-rounded educational experience. Every student-athlete is given the opportunity to grow, improve, and reach their potential.
Our Middle School program offers three seasons of competitive teams and maintains an 87% participation rate. It is a no-cut program, ensuring broad access and meaningful involvement for all students.
ISK is a member of the Nairobi International School Athletic League. We aim to foster a lifelong enjoyment of sport and physical activity in a supportive and engaging environment.
High School
ISK High School athletics fosters a love of interscholastic competition within a well-rounded educational experience. The program builds skill, strategy, teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and school spirit, all aligned with our school mission.
Our Junior Varsity (JV) program develops foundational skills and prepares athletes for varsity-level competition. It offers meaningful high school experience while nurturing growth, confidence, and responsibility.
Our Varsity program competes at a high level across Kenya and Africa. Teams are coached to perform with excellence while upholding ISK’s AIMS and the highest standards of sportsmanship and conduct. Student-athletes are challenged to reach their potential, thrive in competitive environments, and contribute to team success.
ISK High School Athletics has a 90% participation rate, offers three seasons of competitive JV and Varsity sports, and has earned over 70 ISSEA Championships—reflecting a strong tradition of excellence and school pride.
